Summer is the worst company period, We done business with them for 5 years and the contract expired, We didnt know it because they said they sent email to previous owner who had been dead for nearly five years. Our bill went from 1400.00 a month to nearly five thousand and it was on auto debit. They said they could,nt do any thing about it. They said if we renewed our contract they would pro rate it, We just got our bill and it was over 5000.00. They said again nothing we can do it will be cheaper next month. They are nothing but crooks and should be some way of shutting them down.

I renewed my commercial service with them from april 2024 and my bill got doubled ever since with increase of 0.30 cents kwh. I regret it ever since never take this service they will rip you off. Before i renewed i was getting around $250-$280 per month now i am paying around $400-$450 per month. I am not surprised at all by these 1 star reviews about them they deserve it.

Would give half a star if I could... Reading some of the reviews, mt 77 yr old mother was one who was never told that her account was sold to Discount Power. Her residential broker did not even know until she called him to make sure it was legitimate.

This company has been struggling to tread water for over a year and they will drain you for as much as they can to help keep them afloat. I have a friend with a restaurant who accidentally went off contract and they charged him 30 cents/kwh for an entire month! He freaked out and switched away as fast as he could. He then asked if they could adjust the charge to something more reasonable and they basically told him to go pound sand and deal with it. Then... asking for proof that the excessive charge was reasonable and legitimate, they ignored him. Other providers will post their "off-contract" rates so customers are fully aware... but not Summer. They are crooks. Almost all other providers charge HALF of what Summer charges you.

Avoid this company like the plague... They forget that they work for you... not the other way around. They are completely unreasonable, unprofessional and are criminals hiding behind a legal team.

Horrible Customer Service and rates are ridiculous. I experienced the same as so many others. I went off contract 1 month and they charged me 30cents per KW and constant sending disconnection notices when bill is PAID. So disappointing. I will not use them ever AGAIN!!!

I put an initial review on the services provided about a week ago (see below). They informed me that they changed their systems which caused the error and promised me that it would never happen again. They also begged me to delete the 1-star review. Then they provide the generic response.

HOWEVER, today I got the exact same message for our other business location - despite the fact that they told me that my accounts were in good shape and that this situation would never happen again.

As I said before, use anyone else other than Summer Energy.

ORIGINAL TEXT

I have two business accounts with Summer Energy. I received via email the other day a disconnection notice despite the fact that I have both accounts on AutoPay. I called and talked to customer service and the guy was nice and informed me that the message was sent in error because "they were transitioning to a new system". He assured me that everything was all good. Today, I received a call from customer service that stated my account was past due and subject to disconnection. I informed him of my conversation a few days ago. He could see the the log of my call but they still haven't fixed the account. I was forced to go through extra steps and spend time out of my day to fix their problem / mistake.

This is not the first time something like this has happened. A few months ago I got about 5 phone calls within a short period of time stating that my account was past due and subject to immediate disconnection so I stepped out of a meeting to take one of the calls. Their reason was the same as what happened today - they were changing their system.

I would suggest to everyone to choose another Retail Electric Provider (REP). Summer Energy isn't worth the poor customer service and hassle using them as a provider.

I pray that commercial entities DO NOT choose Summer Energy for their electric provider. I was a residential customer for 8 years. Today I am put in bind because of Summer Energy’s irresponsible and misleading way of doing business. At some point Summer Energy decided not to provide residential electricity anymore. In April they transferred my electricity account over to some other provider without sending notice to me. But also in April sent out my annual service contract renewal with Summer Energy instructing me to renew my electricity with them. Again in May Summer Energy sent out my service renewal contract with instructions to renew my electric plan with them. As i have been trying to do because i had no idea they had already transferred my electric somewhere else. When i called customer service i was flat out lied to and the lady was gaslighting me the whole time telling me i was wrong because they sent out emails and a paper copy to everyone stating the transition and that they weren’t providing residential electricity anymore to their customers. Obviously i would not be this angry over this situation if they had sent out these notices. Now i have 2 days yes 2 days to figure out what to do for a new electric provider. Please be cautious as they were irresponsible, misleading and reckless with their residential customers and just left us out to dry

If I could do zero stars... I would. I've been homeowner for 40 years. Worst utility company I've ever dealt with. Customer Service is hard to reach, unreal wait times, untrained staff. Accounting - there is a ridiculous delay from when funds get in their hands to when they post that I've NEVER had with any other company if you pay via bank check vs their online portal. I switched to Summer Energy due to their rates at the time. I am baling as soon as the contract is up. Update: they must have a bot who responds to these negative reviews by giving a number to call... Because Ive already called....

Need an option for zero stars. If you're thinking about switching services over to this company, do yourself a favor and try calling in to get any kind of service. I made the mistake of trying to switch my energy services to this company due to their low rates at the time. Fast forward several weeks, I find out that they never switched my services over like they were supposed to. The funny part is that I had actually waited on hold for 1+ hours to speak with a rep to get my services switched over. Luckily, no payment information was provided. On one hand, I feel like I dodged a bullet by being able to get away from this company, but on the other hand I'm now expecting a large energy bill from my current provider. Consider this a sign and move on without this company.
