The real attraction here was the woman at the desk.
Cordial, helpful, apologized when the museum did not meet my esoteric expectations.
Still spent over two hours looking at blades and mills.
They had trains too, take your Train Kid.
Also, take a walk around outside, there are paths to other windmills than these.
Also also, the Garrison Flowerdew that is heavily advertised. My one gripe was the visitor center was closed. I came for the Dutch Windmill. What's the big idea?
Also also also, buy a postcard, they're cheap cheap, and Desk Woman didn't give me a hard time over the penny I was short, so it came at a discount on top of the already low price.
Very niche museum, but a lot of potential here.
Would recommend.
Will return.

Worth a stop - and then some. I spent three hours here. The windmills are kind of amazing and the model trains are pretty cool too -- and I'm not (at all) interested in trains. Come check it out - you'll learn why windmills and trains go together. There are lots of outdoor windmills to look at too, but even if the weather doesn't cooperate for outdoor viewing, there is still plenty to see inside. Completely worthwhile.

An excellent museum with a singular focus on the fascinating history of windmills. I visited with very little knowledge of (or, frankly, interest in) the subject, and left impressed by the presentation, having learned a lot. Highly recommended!

Windmill, model train, millstone, mural and miniatures museum! My wife made us visit as a stop on a road trip, and the rest of us reluctantly came. Everyone loved it, quite a wonderful place. I plan to drive 2 hours out of our way just to bring my dad next year.

A founder told us this museum is the only one of its kind, and because of the sheer size of the windmill displays, I absolutely believed him right away. Be prepared to walk both indoors and out, but there's good resting points on the shaded porch and inside where you can watch the mechanical trains or videos at either end of the building about windmills and mill stones. Save some time for the mural search that is located in the back near the gift shop.

I've been waiting for a while to get the chance to go see this amazing place! It also has model trains, a Lego town, a grist mill stone displays. Treasure hunt list for searching the items around the displays.
Gift shop has some really nice items and at good prices.
Come to Lubbock, go see the windmills and trains, read and learn about the different types and purposes these 18th & 19th century engineering marvels served.
When I come back to Lubbock, guess where I will be returning to? Yup AWM!

There are lots of neat things to see, and a very large collection, it will take a few hours to see and appreciate all the displays with information.

The model train displays are massive with well over a thousand cars and trains with intricate models and displays.
