I switched to Amigo about 6 months ago bc I wanted to save on my electric costs. Firstly, they led me to believe they would cover the termination fee on my old company, that was a lie, they did not cover the full amount, only partial. Fast forward to this month I have never received a higher bill in all my years living in my current home. The hidden costs are outrageous. I will be shopping for a new company. Take this as your warning not to fall for their lies about saving you money. Run fast!

Edited: Updating to say they must care about customer reviews and feedback because they reached out and gave me an additional credit for my previous termination fee and we found a cheaper plan. Giving them a second chance, will see if it is better going forward.

THEY’RE a SCAM.. I signed up first time cause I recently got an apt.. I was asking around family members and friends what light company they had.. a few had this one and others recommended me not to so I got it cause my mom has it.. I signed up and went through everything to get connected I signed up for 5 year lease.. I gave my $199 deposit and I had 3 days to cancel or 12 months to be able to get my deposit back.. my cousins and fam started saying it wasn’t good at all so I called the next day to cancel the service (it hadn’t been connected) they kept on transferring me like 8 times every time I would call about my deposit 3 days had passed but during those 3 days I had called on the 31 the next day I signed up on the 29.. I did the process to cancel my service and get a confirmation and everything was clear.. 5 days have passed and I called today and again I was being transferred like 10 times till I got mad and told them they keep on transferring to billing to where I get my deposit to where I cancel my service they just kept on until I said I’m recording this call that’s when they got serious.. I’m NOT getting my deposit back cause now it’s under investigation cause supposedly my account was still active when I had called during those 3 days to make sure my service was DONE and they said it was but now it’s under investigation to see what’s going to happen about my deposit since they said my account was active when I had a cancellation confirmation number.. they received my deposit in less than 24 hours but now I have to wait 30 days to get my deposit….. NEVER GET THIS ENERGY COMPANY AND THIS WILL BE POSTED IN OTHER PAGES.. I got a better deal for 1 year in another light company #SCAMMERS

Could not update credit card expiration date since we were allegedly too close to the billing date? So, called back 2 weeks later. Now my credit card got charged twice for the exact same amount. All Billing questions are routed to a support center in India. While the double charge was acknowledged, they could not identify the cause of the problem, nor issue a refund, simply apply a future credit. Avoid at all cost!

I love Amigo energy but what I DESPISE is their automated phone system!! I would like to speak to a real person! I was on the phone for over an hour trying to speak to someone with a brain attached!! I was so angry I just wanted to leave Amigo so I'll just say this. Add a (would you like to speak to a representative) to the system because if I have to go through that again as much as I love Amigo I will find another provider that allows me to speak to an agent. Other than that Amigo is awesome.

Absolutely the worst experience I've ever had! They have horrible communication & people skills. They want you to wait 7 days for service and won't start your process until you pay your deposit yet want you to wait 10 business days to get your money back. I cancelled then had my bank to pull my money back. They never connected my service and it's 7 days later. I would have given 0 stars if I could! I went Frontier Utilities and got fast friendly service. To make it even better SAME DAY SERVICE! DO NOT USE AMIGO ENERGY!

This company deserves 0 stars. The worst customer service is have experienced in my life. I've been a customer service representative, and never in my life I expected to be hung up on. The representative just told me that if I had nothing else, he could help me with it and just hung up without waiting for my answer. Tried to make a payment plan because my work has been so slow I couldn't afford to pay the bill. Called to make a payment plan, but they didn't want to accept the amount I had at the moment until I got paid friday. They wanted an exact amount, which I didn't have. They disconnected my light today. I called to see if I could get it restored. Someone lent me the amount they asked for the payment plan. To my surprise, now that is disconnected I have to pay the full amount which I don't have and don't have anyone to give me the money. But they can't help me. I'm just trying to pay my light. Why is it so hard to make me a damn payment plan? I hate this company. The representative proceeded to tell me to call 211 so they could help me with the bill. That's when I was flabbergasted and didn't even know what to say. All I asked was for a payment plan until Friday. Shame on you, Amigo Energy. Now I have to be without ligth until Friday, January 31, 2025, because I doubt 211 will pay my bill right away. And my food will spoil, which will be harder for me and my son.

UPDATE: JUST CHANGED COMPANY AS SOON AS I FINISHED WRITING THIS REVIEW I CRIED OF FRUSTRATION. DO NOT SIGN UP WITH THIS COMPANY. WILL BE REPORTING THEM TO THE BBB. ALSO JUST CHECKED MY BILL SAYS I HAVE CONTRACT UNTIL 2027, BUT I SAVED MY CONTRACT I DID A 12 MONTH CONTRACT ON MARCH 2024. THEY ARE VERY SNEAKY. DO NOT SIGN UP WITH THIS COMPANY.....
